The newest of the ships, the 2003-built Seven Seas Voyager, measures 42,363 tons, which is about 12% smaller than the slightly older, 48,075-ton Seven Seas Mariner. The three ships in the simply named Small Cruise Ship Class are considerably older than the line's Explorer Class ships and aren't quite as big — or opulent — as their sisters. In an effort to improve passenger flow, for instance, Regent turned around the grand staircase in the central atrium on Seven Seas Splendor as compared to how it was laid out on Seven Seas Explorer. A major focal point of the vessel's interior, the staircase now cascades down from the public areas on Deck 5 toward the magnificent, marble-floored promenade on Deck 4.

I was thoroughly entertained by the "Marauder’s Ball," a pirate adventure told through pop songs and classic swashbuckling tunes. Also on Deck 4, guests can shop around the boutiques, play slots or table games at the glitzy casino, or hang out in the Grandeur Lounge. This promenade leads directly into Seven Seas Splendor's main restaurant, Compass Rose. Still, it's in the bigger cabin complexes at the front and back of the Explorer Class ships where things get really impressive. For now, there are just two ships in the Explorer Class, and both have debuted since 2016. But that number is scheduled to rise to three in December with the arrival of Regent's new Seven Seas Grandeur.
The diverse and large book collection includes volumes that immerse readers in the history and culture of the ports they will visit as well as all the others on any possible bucket list. To enhance the guest experience, Regent has created a digital art tour (downloadable from the App Store and Google Play) that passengers can download via a mobile app for an immersive, self-guided experience while they are on the ship. A big draw to Regent is the mostly inclusive offerings, including free and unlimited shore excursions, round-trip flights, unlimited internet, prepaid gratuities, ground transfers and other amenities. For everyone on board is the spa with an infinity pool that looks out over the stern, fitness center, jogging track, casino, several lounges, card room, library and main pool. The blue-pearl-and-diamond sculpture titled “Journey in Jewels” is a small but commanding centerpiece rotating within its display case in the atrium for travelers to enjoy as soon as they step on board.
